One of the two editing rooms at Primitive Films studio. Taverne. Switzerland.
I was born in 1980 in Spain and, from an early age, I had a passion for breaking every device within my reach. Naturally, I became a telecommunications engineer… to try to fix them. It didn’t work. So I moved to Barcelona to make films instead.
I joined the Catalonia Film School (ESCAC) in 2004. At first, I wanted to become a cinematographer, but by my second year I realized I was terrible at it. I discovered editing and it just clicked — building stories from the editing room felt far more exciting than carrying a light meter around. Editing was my thing.
Since 2008, I’ve been working professionally in film editing. I began as an assistant editor on films like REC 2, Buried, 14 Days with Victor, Emergo, and Red Lights. I also edited several behind-the-scenes features, including Bruc: The Challenge, Exorcismus, and Three Steps Above Heaven.
My early editing credits include short films such as I'm Sorry, I Love You and A or B by Leticia Dolera, and M is for Mom by Carles Torrens, among others.
In 2012, a life-changing opportunity brought me to Canada, where I worked as an assistant editor on Mama by Andy Muschietti, produced by Guillermo del Toro, under the guidance of the incredible editor Michele Conroy.
Back in Spain, that experience opened the door to other international productions like Manhunt by Pierre Morel and A Monster Calls by J.A. Bayona. Eventually, I transitioned into lead editor roles with films such as The Corpse of Anna Fritz and the series Cites.
Then came another big leap: I moved to Switzerland for love and began a new chapter of my life. Thanks to some friends, I quickly found work editing documentaries. One of my first projects was SottoSopra, a series I still edit today.
In southern Switzerland, fiction is rarely produced, so I embraced a genre I hadn’t explored much before: documentary. Since then, I’ve edited over 50 documentaries, both feature-length and short form.
In the midst of all this, Patrick and I co-founded our own production company, Primitive Films. We make a lot of cool stuff — check it out!
In the end, whether it's fiction or documentary, what truly matters to me is this:
Edit, edit & edit.
